Sealable and autoclavable, 3 mil polypropylene bags with microporous filter patches that allow gas exchange but preclude the passage of contaminants, can be utilized for both mushroom growing and spawn .
They’re widely used by mushroom growers right through the world. We use them for mushroom spawn incubation in our farm for a very long time. You’ll seal them with an impulse sealer, or just tie to seal them. Those bags are durable and may also be reusable in most circumstances.
These bags are gusseted on both sides, allowing them to hold more material. The Size makes those bags ideal for the use of pressure cookers to sterilize. You’ll use them to expand your cultures or replace the jars. Substrates are easy to view, and easy to deal with.
Suggested Sterilization Times at 15 PSI:
5 LBS Grain Bags—120 mins
5 LBS Sawdust Blocks—150 mins
*******Fill with an adequate amount of water( at least 2 inches of water) into the pressure cooker . You wish to have enough water to last the full duration of the sterilization process. Most often, melted bags are caused by no enough water.**********
